Welcome to Parkway Middle School – Home of the Patriots!
Parkway is a comprehensive middle school in La Mesa for grades 6-7-8. Our 1250 students are known as Parkway Patriots. We have a strong tradition of academic excellence coupled with an integrated character education program. Together, they provide many activities to promote the social and emotional growth of all students. Our school is divided into four small learning communities which we call Houses (Earth, Wind, Water and Fire). Each House is comprised of a team of ten teachers and one counselor. They stay together with the students for the three years they are here at Parkway. Each House promotes student connection to a team and offers immediate intervention and enrichment opportunities. Additionally, each team of content specialists works in a Professional Learning Community to provide multiple opportunities for collaboration and the sharing of best practices to encourage individual success. The core content areas (math, English, history and science) are supported by physical education, yearlong electives (Band, Spanish, Yearbook, and Media), and 12-week cycles classes (technology, art, and music appreciation). A strong GATE Program includes cluster classes in Language Arts and history and leveled math classes challenging students as needed. The Patriot Center provides additional enrichment activities for students seeking a challenge and new learning. Intervention classes in Language Arts and math offer support for students needing extra time to learn. Counselors provide additional class lessons in social skills, study skills and organization. Students enjoy participating in our many clubs and learn lifelong skills through our ASB leadership class.
Parkway Middle School Mission:
To address the unique needs of the early adolescent, Parkway Middle School provides high standards of academic and behavioral excellence in settings that promote personal connectedness.

Promotion And 8th Grade Dance
. .
.
DRESS CODE AND EXPECTATIONS
As we near the end of the school year, many students are getting ready to buy dresses and attire for promotion ceremonies and the 8th grade dance. Before you make any purchases, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you of dress code requirements. Clothing must follow District and school dress code regulations. School dress code policy will be enforced. Caution: You don’t want to be wearing “orange uglies” at promotion or at the dance – so be careful that you make appropriate choices. Spaghetti straps, tank tops, halter tops, see-throughs, and clothing that expose the bare-midriff are not allowed. Pants may not sag below the waist. No tuxedos and no prom- style dresses. Shoes should be comfortable. You must be able to walk up and down stairs.
We know this is a very special event. We want each of you to be comfortable. Last note: Limousines are not appropriate and may not park on school property.

Online Grade Permission
2009-2010
Dear Parent/ Guardian:
Many of the teachers at Parkway Middle School have the capability of posting their students grades on the Internet. This is done in a way so that each student has to enter a password in order to see his or her grades. Only people that know the password will be able to see their grades. Parents and students can check grades at home, with Internet access, or anywhere Internet is accessible. Students can also check grades at school. If you would like to have grades accessible online, please download and printout the form below. Please sign and return this form to your History teacher to give the teachers permission to post the grades securely online.
