Northmont Elementary Knights
Our focus at Northmont Elementary School is providing a quality educational experience for our students which includes academic challenges, creative expression, physical well being, community events, and strong character development support. Students are encouraged to problem solve and treat each other and staff with respect. As a school community we work on one central character trait each month.

  • Watcha Readin?

There are ten ways to be a better reader...READ, READ, READ, READ, READ, READ, READ, READ, READ, READ! There is a new "LittleFreeLibrary" in our neighborhood.

Here is how this Library works:

Take Books - choose a book you would like to read and take it home to enjoy.

Share Books - pass them on to a friend or return them to the "LittleFreeLibrary."

Give Books - continue to be a friend of your Library and donate books that are in good condition                             for others to enjoy.

    Where is the new "LittleFreeLibrary?"

9694 Wayfarer Drive, La Mesa.  Library Stewards:  Ann and Dennis Wilkes

We are especially looking for books for third grade and up.  Come visit and help keep your Library a friend in our neighborhood.

Remember to READ at least 20 minutes EVERY DAY!

    Take a Book...Return a Book

  • School Safety
Student and school safety is always our top priority here at Northmont Elementary. We know that students will not do their best learning unless they feel safe and comfortable. We also take very seriously the trust you place in our staff to keep your precious children safe and secure. In our efforts to keep our campus safe, we ask that our community also observes some basic safety guidelines. Please make sure you always check in with the office anytime you are visiting the campus. You MUST have a visitor or volunteer badge anytime you come to school. All staff members direct visitors to the office when they see anyone without a badge. You MUST always sign students out in the office if you come to pick up before school dismissal time. School dismisses at 2:20 everyday except Tues, which is a 1:05 dismissal time. We require that you sign students out in the office even if you are picking up just a few minutes early.
Please be patient and understanding when any staff member reminds you of our safety requirements.  All of these precautions are to ensure the safety of all. Staff members are dedicated to your child's safety. They are not trying to offend anyone or cause delays in your plans.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!

  • Peace Circle
We begin each school day with our morning Peace Circle. This is a great way for us to start the day as a school community. Our staff, students, and families have an opportunity to hear announcements, participate in our Pledge of Allegiance, and our Peace Pledge. We also praise students and adults for academic growth, peace builder behavior, excellent effort, and a variety of other positive contributions to our school community. This is a great way to start the day. If you haven't been out to join us at our Peace Circle please plan a visit.

  • Walk and Roll Every Friday
Join our walking school bus every Friday at Northmont park for a pleasant walk to school. The group leaves the park by 7:30 and takes a safe, adult chaperoned walking route to school.  It is a great, healthy way to start your day and you get credit for Run Club too!
