Dear Northmont Families:
Welcome to Northmont Elementary School, A California Distinguished School! We are committed to providing all our students with a Standards-based, well-rounded education. It is essential for children to receive an education that is balanced academically and socially to include the arts (visual and performing). Our talented staff is a caring team who works collaboratively to provide high quality learning experiences in a nurturing and safe environment. Northmont’s primary academic focus is, of course, Literacy across the curriculum which includes reading, math, science, social science, and the arts. A Standards-based program ensures that students will be prepared for the demands of the future.
Parents, you are the most significant influence in your children’s lives. We want our parents to be involved to help us do the best possible for our students. Parents can participate in many ways: being active with PTA, classroom volunteers, attending special school functions throughout the year, helping with homework, serving as members of School Site Council, PTA Board, and ELAC. Physical Fitness is crucial therefore, in addition to the madated 200 minutes of PE every 10 days Northmont is proud to offer Ballroom Dance, Fit Camp, Talent Show and our before school Run for Fun activity. We thank our PTA for sponsoring the Talent Show, Fit Camp, and Run for Fun.
Northmont is proud to be a PeaceBuilder School. As PeaceBuilders, we notice hurts, give up put downs, right wrongs, praise people, seek wise people, and help others. Throughout the year, we also emphasize developing specific character traits such as respect, responsibility, honesty, self-discipline and perseverance. Students are recognized each month at a special PeaceBuilder Awards Assembly.
