Principal's Message

 Mrs. Hollis
Dear Maryland Avenue Families:

As we begin this year please think about ways you can get involved in your child’s education. Some ways you can get involved include: communicating regularly with your child’s teacher, keeping informed about homework and special projects, reading with your child daily, limiting the time your child spends watching T.V. and playing video games, and increasing the time he/she reads, works on academic topics, and interacts with family members. Remember, teachers would like to hear your questions and concerns early, before they become bigger problems.

Educational success for all students cannot be complete without an effective partnership with all parents. You are the most essential part of your child's education and it is important that we build a strong relationship in order to best serve your child's educational needs.

Please consider getting involved with our wonderful PTA. We have many jobs that need to be done and many don’t take much time at all. Our Watch Dog program, encouraging fathers to become more involved in the school experience, is thriving as more fathers and grandfathers get involved. See Jeff Jonilonis or Mrs. Hollis to sign up with Watch Dogs if you are interested.

Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, suggestions, or praise. You can reach me at (619) 668-5744 or email me at Laura.Hollis@lmsvsd.k12.ca.us.

Education is a community responsibility and together we will ensure that our children have a successful year in 2012-2013!
