Dear Fletcher Hills Families:

Welcome to the 2012-13 school year at Fletcher Hills Elementary School.

I hope you had a wonderful summer break, filled with opportunities to relax, learn and grow. Our school continues to be one of the most highly regarded learning communities in San Diego County, and this year we will continue to build on this success. Our focus will continue to be on academic excellence, high expectations, innovation, and collaboration.

As we begin this year, please remember that this is your school and we welcome involvement. We believe that parents are the most significant influence in their children’s lives. Parents can participate in many ways—as classroom volunteers, by attending Back-to-School Night and Open House, by participating in parent education activities, and by serving as members of the School Site Council, the English Learner Advisory Council, and the PTA Board. Our active PTA provides many opportunities for families to participate. Fletcher Hills is proud to be a PeaceBuilders school. As PeaceBuilders, we notice hurts, give up put-downs, right wrongs, praise people, seek wise people, and help others. Throughout the year, we also emphasize developing specific character traits such as respect, responsibility, honesty, self-discipline, and perseverance. We have three main rules for our community: Respect Your School, Do Your Best Work, and Help Others Succeed.

I am excited to be working with a talented and dedicated staff that recognizes that children are our greatest resource.
