Welcome to the 2012 - 2013 school year Northmont Students, Families, Teachers and Staff!
My name is Jennifer Burnham and I am truly honored and excited to be your PTA President for this year. For those of you that I have not had the pleasure of meeting (yet!), let me tell you a bit about myself and my goals for this year:
We are an active duty Navy family who has been in 3 different schools (in 2 states and 2 countries) in the past 4 years. When we were moving to CA last year, I chose our home purely based on the PTA reputation and involvement at the school. After searching through elementary school PTA websites for months, I was WOWed by the enthusiasm, commitment, creativity and passion that the Northmont PTA exuded and immediately knew that this was the school for us.
I am SO HAPPY with the decision that we made Northmont the cornerstone of our move to CA!
My experience with the PTA last year was phenomenal! As someone who was brand new to CA and didn’t know a soul - it was wonderful to have an instant network of people to connect with in the PTA. They welcomed me with open arms and open minds - hearing my thoughts and ideas, and supporting my desire to help in any way that I could. I truly felt welcome and appreciated - something that I am so grateful for today!
It is this inclusiveness, this support, this common goal of making Northmont the best elementary school in the district that has me so excited to begin my term as PTA President. Regardless if you are new to the school or have been here for years - NOW is the time to get active with the PTA. We are facing unprecedented budget cuts to education and it is up to the PTA to fill in the gaps.
Did you know that the PTA helps fund field trips and pays for assemblies and library books? Did you know that it was the PTA that funded the Fitness Room and the Kindergarden Play Structure? The PTA is so much more than just the fun community events like the Halloween Carnival, the Talent Show, and the Spring Fling Dance; the PTA truly makes a profound impact in the day to day experience of our students - and without volunteers like YOU, none of it would be possible.
I invite you to come meet the PTA and explore ways that you can make a difference at Northmont. I am absolutely positive that you have something to contribute - - a skill, a talent, a contact, a connection, an idea or a few hours of time - - we will be able to accomplish SO MUCH MORE when we have everyone helping in any way they can.
I’d love to get to know you and hear your thoughts and ideas for the Northmont PTA - so please feel free to contact me at President@NorthmontPTA.org or find me on campus most every day.
Here’s to a wonderful year at Northmont!
