    Field Trip Guidelines

    Supervision Required

    • Students should be grouped with at least one teacher or adult chaperone for every eight to twelve students.
    • The teachers and/or chaperones must stay with the students and are responsible for monitoring their activities and behavior throughout the field trip.
    • The teachers and adult chaperones are responsible for student control and discipline at all times.  If the group becomes unmanageable, the Naturalist Guide reserves the right to end the program at any time.
    • To avoid distracting the students, teachers and chaperones should not use this field trip as a time to socialize.
    • Refrain from cell phone usage during the program, except for emergencies.
    • So that the parent chaperones are not distracted from their responsibilities, siblings who are not enrolled in the class are not allowed to attend the field trip.

    Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary Rules

    • For your safety, stay on the trails and behind the naturalist guide at all times.  Show respect to the naturalists when they are speaking so that everyone will have a safe and interesting experience.
    • Preserve the Sanctuary by leaving all natural objects where you find them.  Flower picking or collecting is not permitted.  Do not remove any rocks, sticks, plants, etc.
    • Protect and respect the wildlife.  Keep your distance and do not feed or attempt to handle the animals.  Your food can make them sick.
    • Leave no trace; everything that you bring into the sanctuary should leave the sanctuary.  Please do not litter.
    • Respect this peaceful environment.  Please walk quietly while in the sanctuary.  Loud noises and fast movements can disturb the wildlife.
    • Please do not eat on the trails.
    • Lunch may be eaten at the picnic tables only.  Be sure you don’t leave any trash or food behind.
