Hi! I guess I should start with my credentials. I have a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, a Master's degree in
Reading,a CLAD credential (this means I am qualified to teach second language learners), a supplementary degree in
English (which means I can teach this subject K-12), a supplementary degree in math (after 1 more unit), and GATE
certification. I have been teaching for 26 years, all in the La Mesa Spring Valley school district. I have taught all
of the grade levels.
I began my career at Murdock Elementary, but have been at Murray Manor for many years as a teacher, assistant Principal, and Reading Specialist. The good news is that your child actually gets to benefit by having a teacher that knows (probably more than I want or should know) about a lot of things! I have overseen in the past most of the programs at Murray Manor, so if you have a question about anything...please ask! On a more personal note, I grew up in San Diego in just about the greatest family a kid could get. Both of my parents were teachers, so I learned early on how rewarding teaching can be. I attended school at Murdock Elementary, Spring Valley Middle School, Grossmont High School, UCSD, and SDSU. I am the mother of two great children. My son, Kody, is in his first year of college at SDSU, majoring in Criminal Justice. My daughter, Kaila, is a Junior at Grossmont High. My husband's name is Kevin. We just got married July 21. His 2 sons are named Kody and Kyle. That's right! Everyone in our family has a name that starts with a "K" and ends with a "K." You will probably also often hear about my dog, Savannah, too (she's a bit jealous that her name doesn't start with a "K")!

Some Things I like
You will come to find out very quickly that I LOVE animals. I also like a good movie in the theater with homemade popcorn. I love to read, mostly fun books that don't end unhappily. I like great dinners out with my hubby. I love spending time with my own kids and animals. I love photography and catching that perfect picture. I love to be a teacher that makes learning challenging, yet as much fun as it can be.
Each student in my class will, first and foremost, be treated with kindness and respect. It is my job to cheer each child's
strengths and admire them for their individuality. At the same time, it is my duty to determine what their needs are and
guide them to achieve to their highest potential. I consider it an honor to teach your "young adult," and I promise to take
care of each and every one of them.
