Welcome

 Northmont Elementary Knights
Our focus at Northmont Elementary School is providing a quality educational experience for our students which includes academic challenges, creative expression, physical well being, community events, and strong character development support. Students are encouraged to problem solve and treat each other and staff with respect. As a school community we work on one central character trait each month. The character trait we are focusing on throughout the month of March is "Respect." Helping students show respect for themselves, each other, and staff is so important. The character trait of focus for April will be "Responsibility." Pleae help us with our efforts to strengthen our character development program by talking about the trait of the month at home as well.

School Announcements

  • Brenda Keagy, Sandie Fuller Each year the staff votes for two employees of the year.  One person represents our Classified staff and another person represents our Teaching/Certificated staff.  This is a special honor because those individuals chosen are being recognized by their peers, showing how much their hard work and dedication is appreciated by everyone who works with them.

Please join us in congratulating this year's Northmont Employees of the Year, Brenda Keagy as our Classified Employee of the Year and Sandie Fuller as our Teacher of the Year.

Brenda has been a dedicated member of the Northmont staff for 5 years, and an employee of the District for 13 years.  She has her finger on the pulse of our community, and always thinks of the little things that make such a difference in the running of a school, that are often forgotten by others.  Brenda is not only dedicated to the children, staff, and families here at Northmont, but has taken on leadership positions within our District to ensure that all Classified employees have what they need to do well in their jobs.  We appreciate all that Brenda brings to Northmont Elementary School.  She is very deserving of this honor!

Mrs. Fuller has been a teacher in the District for 18 years, and here at Northmont for the past 5 years.  She is an amazing teacher with high expectations for her students.  She is always eager and excited to learn new strategies to use in her classroom and loves to share her ideas with her colleagues.  She has truly embraced the new Common Core State Standards and her students are benefiting from her thoughtfully planned lessons designed to help them gain important higher level thinking skills.  Her willingness and excitement about using technology with her students for learning is contagious and helps other teachers want to try new things as well.  The Northmont community is lucky to have such a fine educator working with our students.  Hats off to you Mrs. Fuller!

  • School Safety

Student and school safety is always our top priority here at Northmont Elementary. We know that students will not do their best learning unless they feel safe and comfortable. We also take very seriously the trust you place in our staff to keep your precious children safe and secure. In our efforts to keep our campus safe, we ask that our community also observes some basic safety guidelines. Please make sure you always check in with the office anytime you are visiting the campus. You MUST have a visitor or volunteer badge anytime you come to school. All staff members direct visitors to the office when they see anyone without a badge. You MUST always sign students out in the office if you come to pick up before school dismissal time. School dismisses at 2:30 everyday except Tues, which is a 1:15 dismissal time. We require that you sign students out in the office even if you are picking up just a few minutes early. On Tuesday our lunch recess time is very close to dismissal time. We require that all adults picking up students on Tuesdays and any other day, remain outside of the gates until a staff member opens them. This is to help ensure our students' safety.

Please be patient and understanding when any staff member reminds you of our safety requirements.  All of these precautions are to ensure the safety of all. Staff members are dedicated to your child's safety. They are not trying to offend anyone or cause delays in your plans.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding!

  • Peace Circle

We have made some changes in our morning routine. This year we begin each school day with our morning Peace Circle. This is a great way for us to start the day as a school community. Our staff, students, and families have an opportunity to hear announcements, participate in our Pledge of Allegiance, and our Peace Pledge. We also praise students and adults for academic growth, peace builder behavior, excellent effort, and a variety of other positive contributions to our school community. This is a great way to start the day. If you haven't been out to join us at our Peace Circle please plan a visit.

  •  Run Club

Our community Run Club meets daily before school. A great way to start your morning, Run Club is fun for children and adults alike. It is so important to begin the habits of a healthy and active lifestyle early, and Run Club helps students develop these habits. If you need a little pick me up in the morning come on out and run or walk a few laps. It's a great way to get your mind and body ready for a busy day.
